If you want to be part of the life and worship of New Church, all you need to do is show up! But you're also welcome to explore formal membership, if that's something you're interested in.

Official membership of our denomination (which is legally incorporated as the General Church of the New Jerusalem, or General Church) is made up of those who have chosen to be baptized by a New Church pastor, and subscribe to the principles and purposes of the General Church.

Membership is individual, and is not limited by race, nationality, or geography.

One becomes an official member of a particular society (i.e. congregation) by first becoming a member of the General Church and then by signing the roll of membership of that society.

Joining the General Church

Membership is an opportunity to formalize your commitment to the Church.

Many people are connected to the New Church and the Writings of Swedenborg, but have not formally joined The General Church of the New Jerusalem. We invite you to join our organization and spiritual community, thereby formalizing your commitment to doing the Lord's work on earth. Of course, you are always welcome to participate in our worship services whether or not you have not taken these formal steps.

And for those not nearby a congregation, and unable to be baptized by a New Church pastor, we invite you to participate remotely with our online church NewChurchLIVE at our main website, joining us spiritually!
